A Scientific Analysis of Glyphosate & GM Food by A Former Pro-GMO Scientist of 30 Years — Rangitikei Enviromental Health Watch

With all the so called debate raging still about glyphosate & GM food (really not rocket science when you read the research, they just split hairs in the interests of corporate greed) this is an excellent listen. When somebody who has been part of the industry, switches sides & speaks out, we need to sit […]

Major UK Store Will No Longer Sell Monsanto’s Roundup

One little voice may often not change much, but 90,000 of those small voices make a difference. They were apparently enough to force the UK supermarket Waitrose to remove all of Monsanto’s Roundup herbicide bottles from their shelves.

A Care2 petition allowed thousands of people to express their concern over a major chain continuing to sell a glyphosate-based herbicide after the World Health Organization’s IARC declared the chemical ‘probably carcinogenic’ to humans. It is equally deadly to honey bees, according to Dr. Lucila H. Herbert and a study published in the Journal of Experimental Biology. Global Glyphosate Herbicide Market IS Driven by Genetically Modified Crops

Contrary to biotech claims, GM crops increase pesticide use

Even Harvard has bowed to the Biotech Giants, stating that herbicide use is “ubiquitous” and may or may not increase with the cultivation of genetically modified (GM) crops. However, GM crops accounted for 45.2% of the global glyphosate market in 2012 and have been increasingly cultivated. Without GMOs, there would be a great decrease in the use of carcinogenic glyphosate. Continue reading Global Glyphosate Herbicide Market IS Driven by Genetically Modified Crops

Monsanto’s Roundup Sales Plummeting, Driving Overall 12% Sales Decrease in Just 3 Months

While GM corn seed sales fall as well

Is this the beginning of the end for Monsanto? After reporting that the company is letting go of thousands of their workforce, the company is projecting not only weak sales of their GM corn, but also of one of their biggest, and now most controversial sellers – Roundup.

According to Reuters:

“Sales of corn seeds and traits, Monsanto’s key products, fell 5 percent to $598 million in the quarter. And sales at the company’s agricultural productivity unit, which includes Roundup herbicide, dropped 12 percent to $1.1 billion.”

Monsanto relies on its chemical herbicide sales for its shareholders, but since the World Health Organization’s IARC, and the state of California have announced that glyphosate, the main ingredient in Roundup, is probably carcinogenic, bans are cropping up all over the world. Even without formal bans, Swiss and German retail outlets are ditching Roundup due to customer concerns about the chemicals and their health.

The French minister has also asked retailers to stop selling Roundup. Lowe’s and Home Depot as well as other retailers in Europe have stopped selling Roundup, yet it is still sold in the US. Monsanto obviously can’t rely on American sales alone of its formerly best-selling chemical concoction to stay financially solvent.

Even when Monsanto was claiming that it was reducing the use of various herbicides to grow its GM seeds a few years back, Roundup sales were skyrocketing – but that doesn’t seem to be the case now.

Monsanto enjoyed some of its highest stock prices in 2008, but 2015 and 2016 aren’t looking as hot for Monsanto. Though I admit that Monsanto is still making TONS of money even with sales drops, a 12 percent decrease in sales in less than a quarter is terrible news for most companies. Monsanto will feel this pain as it becomes better known that its products are hazardous to the environment, the pollinators, our pets, and us. Maybe we can watch the biotech machine sputter out just as quickly as it rose to fame.

Monsanto to Cut 2,600 Jobs as GMO Seed Sales Fall

It’s not looking too good for everyone’s favorite GMO seed giant. With sales figures crashing down, Monsanto has announced a plan to cut 2,600 jobs in an effort to cut costs — about 11.6% of the workforce.

And this isn’t the first time Monsanto has experienced a serious slump in sales. Back in February of this year, I told you about the ‘beginning of the serious decline’ for both Monsanto and McDonald’s. It’s a notion that would be considered absolutely absurd not too long ago, really. McDonald’s and Monsanto were the two ‘juggernauts’ that everyone loved to hate, but felt powerless against. Biotech Found to Use GM-Contaminated Rat Feed in Fraudulent Studies

On both test AND control groups

Researchers have found that in some biotech study cases meant to measure the safety of Round Up crops, the rat feed given to rats in both the control group AND the testing group was contaminated with the same GMOs and pesticides (and heavy metals). In other words, laboratory rodent feeds are highly contaminated with pesticides, toxic metals, PCBs, and GMOs. Continue reading Biotech Found to Use GM-Contaminated Rat Feed in Fraudulent Studies

Watch Neil Young’s new ‘Seeding Fear’ documentary exposing Monsanto’s attacks on family farmers who refuse to submit to totalitarian GMO agriculture

(NaturalNews) Following the release of his latest album The Monsanto Years, Neil Young has released a short film documentary entitled Seeding Fear that tells one man’s story of beating Monsanto at its own game. Michael White, a fourth-generation farmer from northeast Alabama, tells of how the agricultural giant sued his now-deceased father, threatened his family and ultimately attempted to wipe out the White’s seed-cleaning business — and failed.

“As far as we can tell, he’s the oldest man in the world to ever have been sued for saving seed since God created seed,” stated White about his late father, who was falsely accused of saving Monsanto’s patented, genetically-modified (GM), Roundup-ready soybeans.

“He’s probably the only farmer to ever beat Monsanto, hands down. Even after the lawsuit was over, I couldn’t make him believe it was over. He would cry and keep saying, ‘Oh, they’re going to come back and sue me again.’ They destroyed him; they destroyed his life. He went to his grave, this grave, still afraid of them. He’s in peace now, abiding in his destiny.” Continue reading Watch Neil Young’s new ‘Seeding Fear’ documentary exposing Monsanto’s attacks on family farmers who refuse to submit to totalitarian GMO agriculture

Hungarians Just Destroyed All Monsanto GMO Corn Fields

Hungary has taken a bold stand against biotech giant Monsanto and genetic modification by destroying 1000’s of acres of corn found to have been grown with genetically modified seeds, according to Hungary deputy state secretary of the Ministry of Rural Development Lajos Bognar.

Unlike many European Union countries, Hungary is a nation where genetically modified (GM) seeds are banned. In a similar stance against GM ingredients, Peru has also passed a 10 year ban on GM foods.

“Almost 1000 acres of maize found to have been planted with genetically modified seeds have been destroyed throughout Hungary, deputy state secretary of the Ministry of Rural Development Lajos Bognar said.

French Environment and Energy Minister Ségolène Royal is sending a clear message to Monsanto – biotech maker responsible for Round Up chemicals, and the target of a class action lawsuit in California, soon to be the taken to the US Federal Court.

Royal made the pronouncement this past Sunday that the weed killer Round Up should not be sold in garden shops since it is potentially harmful to human beings.

She told France 3 television:

France must be offensive on stopping pesticides.”

She did not articulate how she plans on enforcing the ban. Continue reading French Minister Asks Stores to Stop Selling Round Up

Roundup banned in France! Yes!

food for a future

Some positive news from France, they have banned the weedkiller Roundup because of it’s link to cancer. The UN have classified Glyphosphate, which is the active ingredient in the weedkiller as ‘probably carcinogenic to humans’.

This is big news. Monsanto – the worlds most powerful toxic chemical peddler – makes billions selling Roundup to farmers and to the public. They market RoundupReadytm crops that are genetically modified to be resistant to Roundup. This means farmers must use Roundup to control weeds, they must also buy seeds from Monsanto every year as the seeds are sterile. Thus causing a dependency. Aside from the obvious fact that the crop will be saturated with Roundup, weeds have also developed resistance to Roundup leading them to become the only weed in an area and thus putting the ecosystem out of balance. And of course, the farmers then use more and more roundup…
